Der VfB Lübeck hat Jens Martens als neuen Cheftrainer präsentiert. Der 68-Jährige tritt die Nachfolge von Florian Schnorrenberg an und erhält einen Vertrag bis zum Saisonende. „Das zuletzt erfolgreiche Interimstrainerteam aus Bastian Reinhardt, Arvid Schenk und Gianluca Fraternali bleibt auch weiterhin an Bord und wird wichtige Rollen in der Zusammenarbeit mit dem neuen Chefcoach einnehmen“, erklärte der Tabellenvorletzte der 3. Liga, dem sechs Punkte zum rettenden Ufer fehlen.

Der VfB Lübeck verabschiedet sich wie in der Saison 2020/21 ein Jahr nach dem Aufstieg in der 3. Liga wieder in die Regionalliga Nord. Ein torloses Unentschieden bei Arminia Bielefeld besiegelte am Freitagabend den Abstieg der Nordlichter.
