The spoils were shared in the gigantic English Premier League clash between Manchester City and Arsenal on Sunday. Mikel Arteta’s tactical plan to nullify City’s attacking threat was successfully implemented by his players with the Spaniard becoming the only manager to go unbeaten against Pep Guardiola and Jürgen Klopp in a Premier League season. It’s a three-horse race for the title between Man City, Arsenal and Liverpool with Klopp’s men the biggest winners of the weekend after they beat Brighton to move two points clear of the Gunners at the league summit. While Arsenal’s title credentials were boosted on Sunday as they displayed a resilience and mentality that they lacked last season, City’s record against the traditional “big six” received criticism.

It’s getting to crunch time in the Premier League, With just eight games left for most teams, there is still plenty to play for at both ends of the table. As we enter the run-in for this season’s enthralling title race betweenLiverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City, and the nervy relegation battle with a number of teams still unsafe, every point now matters more than ever. The 2023/24 season is edging closer towards its conclusion and as such many of English football’s biggest clubs are already making plans for the summer transfer window. Over the course of his current campaign, Premier League clubs spent a combined €2.93 billion on new players and there’s little to suggest that we won’t see more of the same next season. Especially if some of the most recent reporting is to be believed. One such transfer story that is likely to develop into a saga revolves around the future of young Juventus defender Dean Huijsen. Born in Amsterdam but having grown up in Spain, the young talent is now making a name for himself after coming through the Juventus youth academy and moving out on loan to Roma this season. Reports in England suggest that both Liverpool and Newcastle are keeping tabs on the 18-year-old talent and could look to make a move in the summer. So who is Huijsen and how good is he?

Jürgen Klopp’s goodbye tour from Liverpool has recently hit several roadblocks. First, there was the 0-3 defeat to Atalanta in the Europa League and then a 0-1 loss to Crystal Palace in the Premier League. While Liverpool remain in the race to win the league title, the chances of winning the Europa League are now at best minimal. But Liverpool fans don’t have to look too far into the past to find a glimmer of hope.
