Según informan algunos medios españoles, el centrocampista del Espanyol de Barcelona José Callejón, podría estar cerca de acordar su incorporación al Wigan de la Premier League a partir del próximo mes de junio.
De hecho, el canterano del Real Madrid se ha destapado como uno de los futbolistas más regulares del conjunto catalán en lo que llevamos de temporada, y no es la primera vez que un club británico se interesa por sus servicios. Sin embargo, ahora el Espanyol parece obligado a vender a algunos de sus mejores hombres debido a sus deudas, y el centrocampista de 23 años podría ser uno de los sacrificados.
Justamente, y si bien el traspaso quedaría definido antes de la apertura del próximo mercado de junio, una vez que cuenta con el visto bueno del propio jugador, éste ha pedido incluir una cláusula en la que la operación se deshaga en caso de que los "latics" pierdan la categoría en la Premier este año.

Wigan boss Roberto Martinez has lined up a summer swoop for Espanyol striker Jose Callejon.
Martinez tried to sign the ex-Real Madrid trainee in January and is still keen on a £4m swoop with hard -up Espanyol desperate to sell to balance their books.
Callejon, 23, said: “I know both clubs were talking about it on the final day of the transfer window, but ultimately did not reach any agreement. I am very happy at Espanyol, but in the world of football, nobody knows what will happen.”

Kenne den Spieler nur namentlich - kann mir einer was zu ihm erzählen?
Aus den Statistiken entnehme ich zumindest einmal, dass er kein großer Goalgetter ist. Ein weiterer treffsicherer Stürmer neben Rodallega wäre allerdings schon von Vorteil, gerade, wenn der Kolumbianer wie derzeit eine Durststrecke hat, fehlen mir persönlich bei den Latics die durchschlagenden Alternativen. Wie er sich in der Premier League zurechtfindet, steht auch völlig in den Sternen, 4 Mio. GBP sind auch nicht gerade eine geringe Summe für den Verein.
Die Fakten, wie sie sich mir darlegen, würden mich wohl bei einer Verpflichtung des Spielers nicht unbedingt in Jubelstürme ausbrechen lassen. Da könnte man wohl für einen vergleichbaren Preis auch in der PL einen Stürmer finden können, der auch das ein oder andere Mal mehr das Tor trifft, aber dass Wigan mit einem Spanier als Manager auch in der spanischen Liga scoutet, überrascht auch nicht unbedingt.

La presse britannique aurait même repris l’information en évoquant une offre de 4 millions d’euros. Toutefois, même si le joueur a déclaré être « très heureux à l’Espanyol », il reste plus ou moins lucide.

Latics’ Spanish boss Roberto Martinez made an attempt to land the 23-year-old at the end of January, but the transfer window closed before a deal could be done.
He will now try once more during the summer for the Real Madrid academy product, who is rated at £4.5m Callejon, a former Spain under-21 international, is eager to play in the Premier League - and tempted to link up with Martinez and his Spanish contingent at the DW Stadium.
And his advisor Manuel Garcia Quilon, who held talks with Wigan officials two months ago, now plans fresh meetings with the Latics who are poised to guarantee top-flight football for another season.

According to Sport.es, Espanyol's defender Nicolás Pareja (26) and striker José María Callejón (23) will probably leave the club this summer. Callejon, in particular, is tracked by Wigan and West Ham.
