Report: Bayern Munich refrain from signing Kramarić - Fee too high

Andrej Kramarić scored twice in Hoffenheim's 4-1 victory over Bayern Munich on Saturday. The striker has already scored five Bundesliga goals this season and is already an early candidate for the player of the season in Hoffenheim. Whether the 29-year-old will finish the season in the Kraichgau is, however, another question. 

According to a report by Bild, Bayern Munich are interested in the Croatian national team player. Sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić has had a meeting with Kramarić's player agency P&P Sport Management to discuss a possible transfer. At Bayern Munich, Kramarić, who is Hoffenheim's record goalscorer, is supposed to become Robert Lewandowski's backup. 

Kramarić is under contract at Hoffenheim until 2022—he has no exit-clause. As a result, Hoffenheim are asking for a significant amount of money. Kramarić will not be available for under €40 million. That would mean he would potentially leave in what would be a new record deal. At the moment, Roberto Firmino (for €41m to Liverpool) and Joelinton (€44m to Newcastle) are the most expensive departures in the club's history.

Update, October 1, 11:20 BST: According to information acquired by Bild, Bayern Munich have meanwhile refrained from signing Hoffenheim’s record goalscorer. Kramaric, who had been on a list of possible reinforcements along with many other names, was too expensive for the Bavarians, where the Croatian was supposed to act as a back-up for Robert Lewandowski.

Update Sep. 30 20:25: Kramarić's agent Vincenzo Cavaliere has not denied contact between Bayern Munich and his agency. "I can‘t confirm that Hasan Salihamidzic has contacted me," Cavaliere told Sport1 reporter Florian Plettenberg. "That wouldn’t be professional. All I can say is that a lot of top clubs are interested in Andrej. But Andrej is happy in Hoffenheim and he is not in a rush to leave the club. But if there would be a concrete offer for him from a top club, which is also interesting for Hoffenheim, then we will speak about it."
