DC United claim Ábila from Minnesota United - Forward on loan from Boca Juniors
Major League Soccer side D.C. United have claimed Ramón Ábila of waivers from Minnesota United. The Argentine striker is currently on loan in MLS from Argentine giants Boca Juniors. As part of the move, D.C. United have sent Erik Sorga on loan to Dutch side VVV-Venlo.
“Bringing in a player of Wanchope's quality will reinforce our squad with another proven goalscorer as we head into the second half of the season and continue our push for MLS Cup Playoffs," D.C. United president of soccer operations Dave Kasper said in a club statement. “Having depth this year is more important than ever with a condensed schedule, and we are very pleased with this addition.”
Ábila has struggled since joining the Loons in MLS. The 31-year-old striker has featured in 10 games but has played just 261 minutes and has scored just two goals and was sent off with a straight red card.
