“Several German clubs” were interested in signing Dutch youth international Jayden Braaf, his father claimed back in January 2020. Even then, Borussia Dortmund were considered as potential suitors for the 18-year-old Manchester City winger. According to Bild, this has not changed – BVB’s interest in Braaf is still “huge”, and the black and yellows have been watching the talent “for some time”.

In England, there had recently been reports that Braaf was already in agreement with Dortmund about a transfer. As the German newspaper reports, however, this is not the case yet. Among others, the Daily Mail had reported in recent weeks that the Amsterdam native, who has played in Man City’s youth setup since 2018, wants to leave the club – preferably already in January.

The reason is the lack of opportunities in the first team of manager Pep Guardiola. A breakdown in communication between Braaf, whose contract still runs until 2022, and the Citizens reportedly led to the winger being on verge of leaving Manchester. According to Voetbalzone, in addition to BVB, clubs from Belgium and the Netherlands are also interested in signing him.

Man City: Youngster Braaf would cost BVB more than Sancho

Borussia Dortmund have already successfully recruited youngsters twice from Man City in recent years: After Jadon Sancho, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens recently moved to the German top team as well. According to information acquired by Bild, a transfer fee between €8 million and €10 million would be due for Braaf. Sancho once cost a training compensation of €7.84 million and now has a market value of €100 million – which is also why City want to secure a buyback option, should Braaf be sold permanently.
