The Seagulls pay over €23 million for the services of the Zambian midfielder, according to media reports – Mwepu thus becomes Brighton’s record signing and is also one of the five most expensive sales of RB Salzburg.

“We’re delighted to be able to welcome Enock to the club and are looking forward to working with him. He has a great deal of experience for somebody of his age, including Champions League and international football. He’s primarily a central midfielder, although he is capable of playing in numerous positions, is open-minded, adaptable and very keen to learn and develop,” Albion head coach Graham Potter said.

Brighton move: Mwepu wants to take “the next step”

Mwepu told the official RB Salzburg website: “I had a great time here in Salzburg, learned a lot and developed well in all areas football-wise. But I believe that more is still possible. That’s why, after four years, it’s time for me to take the next step in my career and aim for the next level. I’m very grateful to everyone at the club and all the fans for this wonderful time and I will always think back to Salzburg very fondly.”
