Champion of the 2. Liga 2020/21 was FC Blau-Weiß Linz, but they did not apply for a Bundesliga licence and thus missed out on promotion. Since second-placed FC Liefering could not be promoted either, Austria Klagenfurt qualified for the promotion relegation and managed to get promoted to the top division against Bundesliga last-placed SKN St. Pölten. Due to the discontinuation of the amateur leagues in Austria there was no club promoted and consequently no club relegated at the end of the season.
